Lucci, who portrayed AMC‘s Erica Kane for 41 years, has not signed on to the online continuation of the long-running soap, but she hopes that will change before it’s too late.
Production for AMC has not yet started.
“I so hope that I can return,” she said. “I want with all my heart to return to All My Children. I just don’t know the answer yet. But what I do know is that all of us — all of us — are working so hard to make that happen.”
The Online Network, which will air new episodes of resurrected soaps All My Children and One Life to Live, recently announced that production on both will start on Feb. 25. When the shows return, each episode will also be cut in half — with a runtime of 30 minutes per episode. Fans will be able to watch episodes via Hulu or iTunes.
